**Wollongong Meet the Candidates Forum - NSW Upper House**

The Illawarra Greens are hosting a forum to meet the candidates for the
NSW Upper House. All members of southern Greens local groups have been
invited.

When: Sunday 18th October, 1-4pm

What: An opportunity to get to know the sixteen candidates who have
nominated for the Upper House - for either the 2011 NSW election, or for
the casual vacancy created by Lee Rhiannon leaving to stand for next
year’s Federal election.

Coffee and cakes will be provided.

Climate Camp 09: Oct 9 – 11. Australia’s oldest coal mine, Helensburgh

Climate Camp 2009 is being held 9-11 October in Helensburgh. They

will be holding workshops on Friday and Saturday, and an action
focussed on the coal mine in Helensburgh on the Sunday. Climate Camp
is a model being adopted around the world, drawing attention to and
educating people about climate change. Last year it was held in

State Delegates Council (SDC)

The Illawarra Greens are hosting the SDC to take place over the weekend of October 31st - November 1st 2009.

The event will be at the new Thirroul Community Centre starting at 9.00am on Oct 31 (Saturday) and ending around 4.00pm next day (Sunday). During each day the formal business of the SDC will be conducted with lunch provided to all who attend. On Saturday evening a dinner will be arranged at a yet to be announced venue at reasonable cost and all Greens members are encouraged to join in.

All Greens members are free to attend the SDC as observers. The entry cost is $10 each day which includes lunch.

World March for Peace

The *first ever World March that will travel the world* asking for the end
of wars, the dismantling of nuclear weapons and for an end to all forms of
violence (physical, economic, racial, religious, cultural, sexual and
psychological).

*Be one of the brave and help us to create a new, non-violent global
consciousness!*
*The World March will begin in New Zealand on October 2, 2009, the
anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, declared the “International Day of
Nonviolence” by the United Nations. It will conclude in the Andes Mountains
(Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on January 2, 2010. The March will
last 90 days, three long months of travel. It will pass through all climates
and seasons, from the hot summer of the tropics and the deserts, to the
winter of Siberia. The American and Asian stages will be the longest, both
almost a month. A permanent base of a hundred people of different
nationalities will complete the journey.
