Dear Illawarra Greens,
The mtg room at ACON has been booked for Monday evening March 30th ( where we currently hold our monthly Green mtgs ) to hold a discussion to get together a local Greens response to the draft Wollongong LEP.
The EDO workshop remains scheduled for next weekend.
If you are unable to get along next Monday and have some ideas or suggestions vis a vis the draft LEP … pls forward the info to the discussion list or to me - thanks.

Briefing by ANSTO Re: Transportation of Nuclear Material Through Port Kembla

I write to advise that their will be a briefing regarding the above matter
provided to the South Coast Labour Council by the Australian Nuclear Science
and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) at 6pm on Tuesday 3 March, 2009 at the
Wollongong Golf Club, 151 Corrimal St.

At the request of the Labour Council, ANSTO have agreed to a more public
format for the meeting to include media and concerned members of the
community so that there be an open engagement with the local community about
possible plans to transport nuclear material through Port Kembla.

Please circulate this notice to interested parties and individuals in the
region.

2nd February and 27th March - Human Rights training:
The Public Interest Advocacy Centre is again conducting training days on Human Rights, with a focus on the Australian context for the Federal government public consultation. The one-day workshop will help anyone who is interested in understanding and speaking out about human rights. It covers the principles underpinning human rights, international human rights systems, gaps in protection in Australia, models of protection and the debate for and against protection in Australia.
